Best. Church Picnic. Ever. 2.0

52 weeks ago I mentioned that the St. John Cantius annual church picnic was the best one I'd ever been to for one reason:

They served Hacker-Pschorr.

Ditto this year's picnic, yesterday.

And there was much rejoicing...

That, and the conversation (with folks like The Dutchman) wasn't bad either.

Well, our parish picnic served crappy beer, but it lasted till about 10:30 at night. So that's gotta be worth something, right?

Thanx for the plug!

I had a blast talking to you too. But I forgot to ask about what you think is wrong with instant replay.

Matt,

Well, maybe. But I'd urge thee to get thyself on the planning committee next year to prevent crappy beer from being served again.

Dutch,

Part of me wants to be snarky and respond with what Louis Armstrong (allegedly?) said when someone once asked him about jazz: he replied, if I recall, by saying, "If you have to ask, then you just don't get it."

My main beef with it is that it takes a portion of the game out of the control away from the umpires and gives it over to Some Guy In A Booth With A TV.

Maybe it's neo-Luddite of me to say that, but I'm just not a fan of the idea of instant replay in sports.
