It's a Boy!

Jose James Jansen -- named after his grandfathers -- was born at our house at 2:06am on Sunday, May 6. He weighed 7 pounds, 7 ounces.

His three sisters are thrilled to have a baby brother, and his parents are equally thrilled to have a son. The biggest question that remains at this point is what we will call him -- Joey, Joe, J.J., or maybe even his actual name, Jose. Or perhaps a nickname to be given later.

Time will tell. In the meantime, enjoy these pictures.

Wow, that is awesome!! I still have trouble coming to terms with the concept of a home birth 'cause I got used to the idea of this happening only if the house is in a remote area that's miles and miles away from the nearest hospital.

How come your wife looks so calm and not tired at all? She's so beautiful and she doesn't look as if she had just gone into labor and given birth.

CONGRATULATIONS!! Your family looks really happy about the new addition. And welcome to the "outside world", Jose James =)

Wow. You guys are amazing! Truly. Your brood is quite an adorable bunch, and finally John gets a son! :) Tell Jocelyn that she makes being a mom look so easy.

I meant to tell you guys that we truly appreciated your warm hospitality when we were in Chicago. You are wonderful, special people and you've got a wonderfully beautiful family. Our thoughts are with you at this fabulous time in your lives. Can't wait to see you again!

Love,
Heather, Joel and Ava.
